Fileformats

The G3D format is a free format for 3D data like polygon meshes, point clouds and sections. This data format is faster while reading and saving of the data and more flexible than the known STL format. The G3D format is supported by the popular CAD/CAM applications.

The STL format contain the description of the surface of 3D-bodies by using triangular meshes. The STL format is the standard interface of many CAD systems.

The POL format is a PolyWorks's own data format for polygon meshes.

The IGES format defined a neutral and vendor-independent data format, which enables the digital exchange of information between CAD programs.

The VDA format is used to exchange geometric information between different CAD systems and was introduced by the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA).
